I am trying to install STM32CubeMX 6.1.1 onto Win 10 (64bit) i get the famous "this application requires a JRE 1.8.0_45 (64-bit). I have JRE Version 8 update 271 (build 1.8.0_271-b09). how do i fix this? and how come this is still a problem?

OK, i have removed Oracle Java and used Amazon Corretto - all OK now.
