CubeMX 5.2.0 launcher broken on macOS 10.12

For some reason after the 5.2.0 update, CubeMX refuses to launch from the Finder:

> You have macOS 10.12.6. The application requires macOS 10.13 or later.

which is obviously not correct since I can still run this very application from the terminal just fine.
