i have been using the STM32cubeide for years. I have it loaded on 2 laptops. On one I must have made a mistake initially in the setup. It will no longer update to the next release.

The computer has two Solid state drives, C is only 120 Gbytes, D is 1000 Gbytes. Currently the C drive has all the files and programs and is running out of room. What should I do? How can I use the D drive?

I think they changed the server/update method along the way.

You could change the repository drive/directory, as these things are massive.

I'm not sure how well they move/migrate, it's been a while since I tried, and none of the code seems to be tested with real-world dilemmas in mind.

You could dupe the repository to the new volume, then change the settings, and see how happy or objectionable the tool becomes.

You should be able to ditch the .ZIP files, and perhaps enable compression on the respective trees, as most of the content is static.

Also the cost of SSD's is relatively cheap compared to engineering time, you could always migrate to a larger primary drive, and expand the volume/partition that way.

Watch also for excessive clutter and logs that Windows builds, both temp files and logs in the \Windows\Log\CBS type directories.

To add to some of the information you already received, you can have multiple versions of STM32CubeIDE installed without conflict provided you have a different workspace for each version.

You could download and install the latest version of STM32CubeIDE from the st.com website and install it in the D drive and then make sure that in "Window -> Preferences -> STM32Cube -> Firmware Updater -> Firmware installation repository" you set a location in the D drive, for example D:\STM32Cube\Repository.
