Question

ADC input protection on STM32MP157C

Hi,

I'm interested if there is ADC input protection against voltage transients and overvoltage inside STM32MP157C or I should add external protection for used pins? If I had to add external components do you have some recommendations?

Best regards,

Nenad

Hi,

ADC inputs are protected as other IOs (i.e. 5V tolerant if VDD and VDDA are present). Exception is ANA0 and ANA1 which are 'only' tolerant to 3.9V.

ESD is same for all, and specified in datasheet.

Protection are usually not present on ADC as analog inputs does not go directly outside of the PCB (there is always some circuitry) and so, are not prone to strong ESD stress.

Nevertheless, it depend on your application and system circuitry.

Regards.

@[PatrickF] ,

Thanx for the answer, we will add some circuitry for ADC inputs.

Best regards,
