How to customize ST32MPU Distribution Package using result from the Developer Package ?

I am going to build linux system on a board based on STM32MP257F and have read many kinds of related technical documents.

In the process, a question bothers me. I want to modify only several components such as uboot and kernel in existing STM32MPU Distribution Package. To do that, the STM32MPU Developer Package is needed because their source cdoes and build tools are required. This is where the major problem lies. Those are as follows:

  1. To build the source files, what is used between Developer Package’s SDK and Distribution Package’s BitBake ?
  2. After the modified components are built anyway, how and where are their binary images added into the Distribution Package including their configurations ?

I have read in the documents that interoperation between the Developer Package and the Distribution one is available.

But, I have not found out its actual usage example.

Hi @DNA01

It is possible to use the Distribution Package to modify components such as uboot and kernel: see for examples the https://wiki.st.com/stm32mpu/wiki/How_to_cross-compile_with_the_Distribution_Package wiki article.

If you use the Developer Package, when your code is ready to be integrated in your Distribution Package, then you have to build new fragments or patches and to modify the recipe of the targeted software: see for example the https://wiki.st.com/stm32mpu/wiki/How_to_customize_the_Linux_kernel wiki article about the customization of the Linux kernel.

If you need to add a customer application in your Distribution Package, the https://wiki.st.com/stm32mpu/wiki/How_to_add_a_customer_application wiki article might be interesting for you. If you need to integrate an external software package in your Distribution Package, the https://wiki.st.com/stm32mpu/wiki/How_to_integrate_an_external_software_package wiki article might help you.

Hope this information helps.

Regards,

JC.
