When I copy a png file from another project and they try to use it I get an error message. Not sure why.

Could you give more information about your project please (and add your error logs to this post) ?

According to what you shared, you're trying to copy "gauge01_needle.png" to the same folder.

To add a new resource to your project, I can suggest you to use TouchGFX designer, in "Images" tab, then click on "+" in top right.
