SBSFU Tutorial with a custom project
Hi,
The CRA is making Secure Boot and Secure Update increasingly important for a wide range of products.
I have fully reviewed the playlist at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnMKNibPkDnGd7J7fV7tr-4xIBwkNfD-- as well as documents UM2262 and AN5056.
Unfortunately, AN5056 is far too brief to properly understand how to implement this yourself.
The video series only features controllers that are already covered in the existing examples.
I wanted to ask if it might make sense to continue the video series and address these specific points. I believe this would be a huge help to many customers.
Right now, I feel like it will take me months to customize SBSFU for my needs.
Both the video series and AN5056 lack coverage of fundamental aspects, such as:
-Changing the update interface from UART to something else—for example, USB (virtual COM) or CAN. Where exactly are the lines of code that need changing?
-Implementing and explaining a controller that isn't currently covered by an example (e.g., STM32F767)—starting from scratch. AN5056 indicates where changes are needed but only describes them superficially.
-How should I logically partition the flash memory into the various sections?
-What does `mapping_export.h` actually do?
-I imagine very few customers want to perform updates via a terminal program. Where in the source code should I implement an API to allow my existing PC software to transfer the firmware?
-How can I customize the folder structure for my own needs? No one wants to create a project located inside the SBSFU example folder. Even just renaming the project requires script adjustments, so it would be helpful to have those explained as well.
-Etc.
