    I am aware of the Stellaris (dare I say here? ;) But I need a power efficient solution as my app will be most of the time battery operated.

    You are aware that certain other purveyors of Cortex-M3 chips have devices with on-chip PHY...?

    A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
