Question

USB Hub over current event

Greetings All,

I am running ThreadX, USBX, and FileX middleware, as a USB Host, on an STM32H573.
I have a USB Hub (TUSB4041) attached to the STM32 USB FS port.

The Hub correctly enumerates, as do flash drives plugged into the Hub.
I can also use FileX to create, read and write files on the flash drives.

I know that ST does not support assisting in debugging USB Hubs, but thought
I would throw out my issue, and see if anyone has seen this, and maybe has
a solution?

We are testing Over-Current on a single USB port, and expect that only
the over current port is affected, and the other ports still function.

We have two flash drives plugged into the hub, Port-A and Port-B, and can
successfully test access to the flash drives (FileX file create/write/read/verify)
when there are no over currents.

- We introduce an over current event on USB Port-A
- A USB power-switch in front of the TUSB4041 detects the over current, and
asserts a fault signal to the Hub.
- The Hub in turn, disables the 5V's on Port-A, and notifies the USBX software
  of the overcurrent.
- We then re-test Port-A and Port-B, and they both fail? Expected that Port-B
  would still be functional?

We are of course in discussion with TI also.

Thanks for any advice,
Ken
