Question

UCPD VDD and VDDIO2 on STM32G0B1CEU6N

We are using STM32G0B1CEU6N to implement two PD sink ports. USB is not used. We also need IOs with 1.8V and 3.3V levels. Device datasheet states in Table 81 that UCPD requires VDD to be 3.0-3.6V in sink applications. All UCPD CC pins are in VDDIO2 bank. Does UCPD require VDD to be 3.0V or is it really powered from VDDIO2? What voltage level is required on VDDIO2 to support UCPD CC pins?

Hi @Vrjik

UCPD controller is not powered by VDDUSB; its power comes from the main VDD
Also, for G0B1CExxN package (with VDDIO2), UCPD analog functions are powered from VDDIO2.

The I/O pads supplied by VDDIO2 are shown in gray in figure 6 in datasheet :

Also you can check each pin IO structure for power rail.

The datasheet gives the VDDIO2 operating range as 1.6 up to 3.6 V. Therefore, VDDIO2 may be set independently within that range, subject to the device’s pin and supply requirements. You need to ensure the supply pins are decoupled as shown in the datasheet.
