trace port size configuration DBGMCU_CR.TRACE_MODE and TPIU_CSPSR

The port size is configured by both of these. Are they independent and do both have to be set manually ? Does CSPSR configure the TPIU output only but DBGMCU configures the assignment of the actual physical pins to TPIU output, is that why there are two registers for the same purpose ? Is DBGMCU_CR.TRACE_IOEN also about this same issue, whether TPIO outputs are connected to physical pins or not ?
