STMSPIN32G0A2 Gate Driver Shoot-Through while debugger reset

Dear Sir,

I have using STSPIN32G0A2 to drive a BLDC motor with the 6-step algo. When I use the debugger to reset the board while the motor is spining, the REG12 regulator will be burned out.

  1. Pressing reset button (NRST pin) has not killed the board with the running motor and the motor has stopped while pressing reset button.
  2. Debugger reset has not killed the board without the motor connection.
  3. Debugger reset has pulled low the GPIO (such as) PA15 to pull low the standby pin of the GATE Driver and stop the pin driver the gate of the MOSFET.
  4. Debugger reset made the REG12 regulator death while the motor is spinning.

I appreciate if you can give me any suggestion.

Regards,

The regulator requires an output capacitor (CREG12_POL) making the control loop stable and a 100 nF bypass capacitor (CREG12) providing pulsed currents during gate driver commutations. The bypass capacitor must be placed as near as possible to the REG12 pin and on the same side of the device. Routing of the 12 V supply to other components must start from the output capacitor avoiding connection between the bypass capacitor and the REG12 pin. Both the output and bypass capacitor grounds should be directly connected to the device’s ground. This ground is the return path of the low-side gate currents and the charging currents of bootstrap capacitors as described in Section 3.3.
