I'm drawing a new design with the STM32L071KBUx #UFQFPN32.

Do I have to connect the exposed pad to the GND, or can I leave it open. I don't see any note in the datasheet DM00141136.pdf, so I think that I can leave it open ?

connected to ground usually, can you use a meter to check it ?

the smaller QFN style chip has the rating like 36degrees raise in temp at 1W...

these stm32L parts are supposed to be low power,

at 32MHz I cant see then getting warm.

do you have one running ?, does it get hot ?

I don't have the device yet (proto phase).

It’s not mentioned in the data sheet, so don’t connect it.

I would be surprised if the chip gets warm under load,

You would have to make that assessment when you have it running.

Otherwise on the PCB, just send a couple of via’s through and heat sink it.. a bit.
