STM32H725REV6 VFQFPN68 LDO availability

Hi

Hello

I would like to confirm whether the LDO regulator is available on the STM32H725REV6 with VFQFPN68 encapsulation. The documentation is ambiguous, as AN5419 says the following in item 2.1.6:
The low drop out (LDO) voltage regulator is always enabled after Power-on reset. If it is disabled, it remains
disabled even after any reset source except for a Power-on reset. For system supply configuration where this
regulator is not needed, it will be switched OFF by the user software after system start-up. On some packages,
the LDO power supply is available on external VDDLDO pins. When it is not available on an external pin, VDDLDO
is connected internally to VDD.
Can you clarify?

Hi @gilberto-falker,

After checking, it seems there is an information is missing in this note (in the application note AN5419):

That will be updated (roughly) as following:

Note: On STM32H723/733 and some STM32H730, VDDLDO is not available on a pin/ball. In this case, when LDO is available, VDDLDO is internally connected to VDD (leading that System supply configuration described in Figure 2. are not available). On STM32H725REV/RGV, VDDLDO is not available on a pin/ball. It is internally connected to VCAP.

So to answer your question: No you can’t use the internal LDO in the case of STM32H725REV6 / VFQFPN68 package as VDDLDO is tied internally to Vcap.

Hope that answered your question.

Hello @gilberto-falker ,

The LDO is available on the die but VDDLDO is tied internally to VDD.

Hi

So, as I understand it, we can use the LDO according to the attached schematic.
