STM32F4 SPI Multi I/O (Single,Double,Quad) for external Flash possible?

Hi,

I want to use the an external 256mbit Flash from Spansion. The S25FL256S devices use the industry standard single bit Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and also supports optional extension commands for two bit (Dual) and four bit (Quad) wide serial transfers. This multiple width interface is called SPI Multi-I/O or SPI-MIO.

Does the STM32F407 is supporting Double or Quad I/O?

The IC supports:

– Double Data Rate (DDR) option

– Extended Addressing: 24- or 32-bit address options

– Read Commands: Normal, Fast, Dual, Quad, Fast DDR, Dual DDR, Quad DDR

A cursory review of the manual would suggest it doesn't.

For a multi-bit interface look at SDIO, eMMC
