Inquiry regarding PCM configuration across the STM32V8 series

Dear STMicroelectronics Support Team,

I am writing to inquire about the memory technology configuration across the STM32V8 series, which ST has introduced as the industry’s first 18nm microcontroller family featuring embedded phase-change memory (PCM).

From ST’s public materials, I understand that the STM32V8 integrates 4 MB of embedded PCM as a core architectural feature, and that the device has been selected by SpaceX for use in Starlink satellite laser systems, where radiation robustness and high-reliability operation are critical. At the same time, ST positions the STM32V8 primarily for demanding industrial applications such as factory automation, motor control, and robotics.

This leads to two points I would appreciate clarification on, particularly for models within the STM32V8 series that have not yet been formally released to the broader market:

First, could you confirm which specific STM32V8 part numbers are equipped with PCRAM / PCM as the embedded non-volatile memory? I have seen references to the STM32V863/873 designation, but I would like to understand whether PCM is a standard feature across the entire STM32V8 series or is limited to particular configurations.

Second, is PCM usage in the STM32V8 series restricted only to an aerospace-qualified version, or do the industrial-grade STM32V8 models also employ PCM? In other words, I am trying to determine whether PCM is a family-wide technology choice for STM32V8, or whether it is tied specifically to radiation-tolerant / space-oriented variants.

Given that some STM32V8 models may still be in early access or pre-release stages, any guidance you can provide on the model-level memory configuration would be very helpful. If a preliminary product matrix or selection guide is available for the unreleased models, I would be grateful if you could share it or point me to the appropriate resource.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

Mike
