How to find and choose input capture filter sampling frequency to improve the signal?

How to choose the Input capture filter sampling frequency? Is there any method to choose the appropriate value for ICxF bits or do we have to try and find the best value? 

Anyone has experience with this topic, please share the experience you have.

Generally no filter is best/most responsive. The optimal choice will depend on how your signal looks. If you can't guarantee a clean signal, figure out the duration of glitches you want to ignore and translate that into an ICxF value.
