Question

Hi Team, I have used STM32F427ZGT6 in my past designs and want to use the same in the new design. There is no stock on Digikey, Mouser, Farnell, etc. Can you confirm lifecycle status and risk associated with this part in the next seven years? Kiran

There's low availability because all supply has been bought up. Supposed to be a 10 year commitment on most parts, there's a page enumerating this, look at that.

Order and stock parts you expect to need, paying attention to the lead times, especially when they push out.

Main risk here is getting parts in 2023, due to 52-84 week lead times.

Perhaps come out of your comfort zone, and design against parts you can source and inventory yourself.

I suspect there is risk of significant upheaval in the industry, especially with over commitment to deliver all parts forever, and there is some rationalization of what is and isn't practical. This perhaps starts with real pin for pin compatibility and migration paths.

Please don't put the entire post in the Title - see:

Limit the title to ~ 70 characters.

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
