A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
Well, these are models which are already out there, fully qualified, mass produced; not “future product/proposal, which turned out to be unrealistic”.
ST had only a single vendor for this particular package, and they have withdrawn. The last-buy date for the above listed products is next year.
So the real question here is, what’s the value of ST’s 10-year promise, then. We’ve seen ST fiddling with that in the past and credit is so hard to build and so easy to lose. What happens if the packaging vendor stops providing e.g. the LQFP176?
Btw. ST does have their own in-house packaging, except not for the larger QFPs. At the moment.
