48 pin TQFP socket

    Hi everyone,

    Does anyone have a part number for a suitable socket for development use? I have managed to track down ST's part number for the 100-pin early evaluation boards but not a suitable 48 pin variant.

    FYI Early revisions of ST's eval boards (e.g. STM3210B-EVAL) also have a /WS part number for ''with socket'' so that when the silicon is changed, the micro can be changed easily. They are very rare after product launch.

    I think these sockets tend to be unreliable and horribly expensive.

    I think you'd be better of with one of those little TQFP-to-DIL adaptor boards from the likes of Roth, Winslow Adaptics, et al...

    Perhaps this will work - to our joint benefit.

    My (usa) firm is building small pcbs holding STM32 (48,64 or 100 pin QFPs) small xtal, VReg, Caps, SOT Uart Level Shifter, and hi-capacity, 8 pin soic, spi eeprom. Mini JTAG and I/O connector - with optional 0.1'' adapter pcbs. Plan now is to build about 50 ea for our internal needs - can build more if the forum requests... Small qty. price is about cost of micro + 23 USD, fob usa - assembled/tested.

    This functional board should be less expensive than the mechanical, clamp connector you described...
