EVLSERVO1 Motor Pilot no Connection

I already built a project with my custom board and the stspin32g4 which works fine.

Now I bought the EVLSERVO1 to evaluate higher power. But after successful code generation and flashing, motor pilot is not working ("Port Open, try to configure the board”)

I already tested with another EVLSERVO1 board (because I thought my first one is broken). But second board same behavior.

I checked, TX line from STLinkV3 ( 0x 85 FF FF BF) is sent but no answer from EVAL Board

I reduced Baud rate to 9600 because I thought maybe lost data because of high data rate.

Maybe somebody can give me a hint.

kind regards

Philipp

Hi,

thanks for your help.

The problem was that the Boot0 pin is used as HALL input with Pull up resistor.

The SWBOOT0 flag was wrong flashed (standard initial state of STM controller)  when I received the boards.

I used CubeProgrammer to flash the bit SWBOOT0=0.

Now it is working also with higher baud rate (9600 works also but has problems if you want to log the data, then it stuck)

Unfortunately, there was no hint in the user manual, so it take me a while.

kind regards

Philipp

Hello @Philips,

Check the “4 Getting started” chapter in the board user manual.

When debugging the firmware, does it run to the while(1) loop in main.c?
If yes, when connecting the Pilot, is USART1_IRQHandler triggered correctly?

With default settings project, did you try the MC Pilot Discover Board feature?

9600 baud is probably incorrect for Motor Pilot. Use the baud rate from your MCSDK project. Current MCSDK versions commonly use 1,843,200 baud. Check both firmware and Motor Pilot settings. Two identical boards suggest software configuration issues.
