Question

BLDC motor driver

I would like to have precise, slow motion control of a BLDC motor from a hoverboard.  This 1 minute video shows it well:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMXz5tzpq7U

Would a "STEVAL-SPIN3202" do this?

Many thanks

Marc

I two would like to know if I can use the motor control software out of the box to do this or if I should start looking at simpleFOC and how I could port that work to my project.

Hello MarcF,

First of all, we would like to apologize for the delay in replying to your post.

Concerning your issue, if it is still relevant, I have looked at the video you posted, and dug a bit further in the project of the publisher. It appears that what you are seeing on the one-minute long video is in fact an Open Loop system. The MCSDK provides an Open Loop solution that can be implemented on the STEVAL-SPIN3202.

However, if you are searching for a Closed Loop, Low Speed, Sensorless Motor Control, I am afraid the STEVAL-SPIN3202 is not powerful enough for such a task.
I advise you to use an encoder to get your motor position in that case.
