UM1021 host and device part differentiation & Evaluation boards supported meaning

Hi,

I want to ask question about USB On-The-Go host and device library, How can I differentiate host and device part in this library(UM1021) and how this library is different from USB-FS-Device development kit(UM0424). Both packages are supporting 5-6 evaluation boards.

Does it mean that these libs are not applicable for other boards? 

My development board: Nucleao STM32F401RE
