ST-Link V2 "USB Device Not Recognized" – Descriptor Request Failed (Intermittent Issue)

Hi,

I am experiencing an issue with my ST-Link V2 debugger. When I connect it to my PC, I often receive the error: "USB device not recognized: Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and ST-LINK orange LED turns on. However, after several re-connection attempts, it works with full functionality .

Troubleshooting Attempts So Far:

  • Reinstalled ST-Link drivers

  • Updated ST-Link firmware

  • Tried different USB cables, ports, and PCs

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards,
Mohamed Obaid

Is it a genuine ST-Link?

Standalone, or part of a dev board?

A Windows PC?

If it's intermittent, it could be a faulty/broken connector ...

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
