First of all, thanks for your interest in ST25TA16K product !

Then, In the NFC Forum Type 4 standard, you have to apply a "select file" or a "select application" command before any read or write command. If you get the error code corresponding to "file or application not found" this means :

1)  you do not have sent this kind of command

or

2) the reference of the file or application you have tried to select is wrong.
