Appropriate Smartphone for MESH activity

I am trying to select smartphone for MESH activity.

Please, tell recomendations for kind of BLE version for smartphone bluetooth adapter.

Does either version BLE4.0 is sutable for that, or BLE5.0 and higher is only appropriate?

Normally BLE4.0 and above shall be fine. Latest Android based phone is recommended

You can also refer to the phones listed in the release notes of Android SDK of BLE-Mesh (STSW_BNRG-Mesh)
