Question

VNL5050N3-E with 3V3

Can the VNL5050N3-E operate reliably with a 3.3V Input logic signal while switching a load of maximum 2A?

Page 9 of the Datasheet states the supply voltage of the VNL5050N3-E is 3.5V - 5.5V (5V typical), attempting to power or trigger the logic inputs at 3.3V risks dropping below the internal under voltage threshold.

Because the device is optimised for 5V systems, its internal logic high threshold is scaled to a standard 5V CMOS levels. A 3.3V signal does not provide sufficient margin to guarantee a clean turn on across all operating temperatures, even for a relatively light load.

ST cannot guarantee reliable operation if a device is operated outside of its specification.

I am making these assumptions based on the datasheet, I may be wrong but I would be hesitant. It looks like the VNL5050S5-E would be a suitable upgrade?

Are you constrained to 3.3V logic? You could add a logic shifter?

Thank you for answer. I would go further with VNL5050S5-E.
