L6599D replacement

Have use of L6599D in many power supplies from 50W to 300W, is L6599AD a direct functional replacement for any applications is expected to work exactly the same? Thank you.

The D is marked NRND on st.com and the AD is active, so this is not really optional. ST calls the L6599A an improved revision of the previous L6599. Improved is not identical, and the product page does not say what changed. Same SO-16 package, and the feature list reads the same, down to the two-level OCP and the latched DIS pin. Before you roll it across all of them, put the two parametric tables side by side and check soft start and the burst mode thresholds. Those are the ones that would move on you across a 50 W to 300 W spread.
