L6227Q using Enable as PWM signal

The L6227Q looks like just the part I want to control a small motor that will run at about 5V and no more than 300mA.  I was looking at Table 7 in the data sheet.  I think what I want is to set IN1 and IN2 to the polarity I need  and then use the ENABLE line as the PWM signal to adjust the speed.  Does this sound reasonable?

Hi Pete,

The best option is to use the IN1/IN2 inputs to apply the PWM to the motor phases, in this way the power dissipation will be lower because you will not recirculate on the integrated free-wheeling diodes.

However, applying the PWM on the EN input is also good.

Make sure to drive the EN pin using an open drain signal or a push/pull with resistor decoupling, otherwise the embedded OC protection could not properly work.
