Is IGBT reacts like MOSFET?

I have designed a ballast to reduce DC voltage before the power supply driver (UCC28880).

This ballast was first do with MOSFET 1200V : it was OK. We decided to replace the MOFset by IGBT (STGD5NB120), and then the ballast generates noise ( like craking) ? Why , ? Is it because the IGBT does not work properly in lineare mode?
