Question

Is a back to back FET required in a USB-C Power Delivery compliant source application?

I have a USB-C Power Delivery source with a receptacle (no captive cable) . The output of the switching mode power supply and the USB-C receptacle must be separated by a switch due to the cold socket principle of USB-C.

Is a single FET sufficient or a back to back FET necessary for this switch? The bulk capacitance of the SMPS is larger than 10 uF.

Thanks a lot

Tim
