Evaluation board for L6470PD (POWERSO36 package)

Hi,

I wish to buy this evaluation board:

EVAL6470PD | Product - STMicroelectronics

 

However, it's flagged as obsolete. Does this mean that POWERSO36 package of L6470 is not recommended for new design?

Sometimes evaluation tools are discontinued, for example because they are no longer in demand. However, this does not automatically mean that the associated device is also discontinued. In this case, on the product website for the L6470, to the right of the designation and the note ACTIVE, you can even see the seal with 15 years of Product Longevity. If you hover the mouse over it, the current minimum production period is shown; clicking on it takes you to the table of all devices for which Product Longevity is guaranteed.

Summary: unlike the EVAL6470PD, both the L6470PD and the Tape & Reel variant L6470PDTR are still being produced and can of course be used even for new designs.
