Dear Team,

We are using the ST8R00WPUR boost converter to step up the input voltage from 5 V to 12 V in one of our designs.

We would like to conduct a design review of the attached circuit. Please review the design and share your feedback/comments.

Additionally, we noticed that the Junction-to-Board (θJB) thermal resistance data is not provided in the datasheet. We would appreciate it if you could share the Junction-to-Board thermal resistance value, as this information will be helpful for our thermal simulation and analysis.

Best Regards

Abhishek

Welcome @Abhishek Manyam, to the community!

A comment on your schematics can only be given if you also include an image that can be viewed.

Rthjb is unfortunately not available for this device, which is already somewhat older and was released in 2007, so the only option is to use Rthjc.

Well, there is nothing to criticise about the schematics at first glance, but I have not yet been able to check whether the inductance of L1 is sufficient, if only because no current values were specified for the 12V.

Please note, however, that 74406043027 has a saturation current of only 2.07A typical. So if larger peak currents are to be expected, you should choose a different coil so that the magnetic field does not collapse and only the ohmic coil resistance limits the current.

But even more important than the schematics for a boost converter design is the layout, which you haven't yet inserted here as an image and where there is a great deal that can be done wrong.

Regards
/Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comments.

12V is the supply voltage for camera, with maximum input current requirement of 0.5A as per datasheet.

Currently, layout is in progress. I will post it to you once it is done.

Abhishek
