Can the L9822EPD octal serial solenoid driver be used as a direct substitute for the obsolete L98SI octal serial solenoid driver? I do not see any difference between the two and they have the same pin-names and functions.

    Welcome, @Stephan, to the community!

The L98SI, which was discontinued many years ago, mentioned a Max Clamping Energy per output that the L9822E does not guarantee. For this, the L9822E states a minimum output clamping energy, which in turn was not specified in the L98SI.

Functionally, the two parts are identical, but you still have to investigate the electrical parameters and worst case conditions.

    Good luck!
