TSC1801 Total output error formula

Dear Team

 

The TSC1801 datasheet contains the following calculation formula.

What does Voutmeas mean in this formula?

Figure 19 is not showing the bidirectional sensing range itself. It shows the output stage drive capability versus output voltage. So the curve does not answer the question 'How does the amplifier measure bidirectionally?', but rather: 'How much current can the output source or sink at which output voltage?'

Is that a bit clearer now?

Welcome , to the community!

Voutmeas means the measured output voltage at the device OUT pin.
In the formula, it is compared with the ideal output: Vout,ideal = Vsense*Gain + Vref
So Voutmeas is the actual output value you measure on the board, used to calculate the total output error.

Dear Peter

 

I understand that when sensing in bidirectional mode, the voltage input to Vref is based on a reference of 0A.

Regarding Vref, if Vcc is 5V and Vref is 2.5V, I understand that bidirectional sensing is performed in the range of 0 ~ 2.5V and 2.5V ~ 5V.

However, in Figure 19, it appears that the range fluctuates between 0 and 5V depending on the sink and source.

I do not fully understand this figure; could you please explain it to me?
