"High Sink" means, by default the voltage level of this pin (When you read with IDR register), will be active high. Lets us take one example of I2C pins in this controller (SCL AND SDA). Idle state of this two pins is active high (High Sinkd) for I2C communication, when the SDA line goes to low, start condition got detected.
