Question
Does adding a protective film affect capacitive touch performance on STM32 displays?
I'm working on a touchscreen application and I'm looking into ways to protect the display surface from scratches and everyday wear.
I'm curious whether anyone has tested a transparent protective film over an STM32-based capacitive touchscreen.
In particular, I'd like to understand:
- Does the additional film thickness affect touch sensitivity?
- Can the adhesive layer interfere with capacitive touch detection?
- Does optical clarity remain good enough for a UI developed with TouchGFX?
- Are there recommended film materials or thicknesses for touchscreen applications?
- Could the film cause any issues with heat or long-term display performance?
I'm mainly interested in practical experience from anyone who has tested protective films on embedded touchscreens.
Has anyone tried this with an STM32 + TouchGFX project, and what were the results?
