Can tell me what differences between the UART and the SCI?

I want to know that the UART and the SCI are the same or not.I found some articles to put them together.But if they are the same,why not use the same name.So I want to know what differences between them.Can anyone tell me about the differences of them?

main difference is the name :)

UART, USART, SCI, ... are different name for same (or similar) things. Why not the same name? Because of (TM) mark on the name...

There could be several differencies in ''special features'' - prescallers, register sets, interrupts, internal structure... but all are compatible and could communicate together.
