The HTS221 is marked as Obsolete, and the only suggested alternative is SHT40-AD1B - a 3rd-party device.
Has ST abandoned this product area?

short answer: Yes.
As the saying goes: there have been changes in the market that have made it very difficult to continue production or to follow a future roadmap. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and I ask for your understanding.
