Question

I'm using a LSM9DS1. I find that the datasheet gives a good functional description of the accelerometer and gyroscope, but it only gives register level information for the magnetometer. Is there a datasheet for the compass as a stand-only part?

The datasheet also refers to self test modes, but no explanations are given.

Hi @NathanCrow , a reference datasheet for the magnetic part of the LSM9DS1 is the LIS3MDL (same sensitivity and full scale). Specifically for the self test, I suggest you the AN5069 p.23 and 24 (LIS2MDL has register in 60h range instead of 20h range; and different performances). Regards

Thank you very much. These documents are quite helpful.

Would I be correct to assume that the RMS noise numbers are in a 40 Hz band (ODR/2 = 80/2) and that they would be the same at FS=+/- 4 Gauss?

Right, but take care of the offset that is not small hand has to be measured and subtracted to the acquired data. It doesn't directly affect the rms noise however. Regards
