Please support to update how LPS27HHW pressure sensor can detect the fall of a human being.

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

LPS27HHW is a water-resistant absolute pressure sensor that does not include an embedded fall-detection algorithm. But depending on the specific application and the sensor placement, it could contribute to a fall-detection system since a pressure difference can be converted to an altitude variation.

 

For example, under normal atmospheric conditions near sea level and at ambient temperature (20-28 ºC), it can be approximated that 1 hPa of pressure change corresponds to 8.3 meters of height difference. This is generally valid for small altitude differences (under hundreds of meters).

 

Consider that pressure variation may also be caused by weather changes, doors opening and closing, etc. So the pressure sensor by itself cannot reliably be used for fall-detection. We recommend pairing it with an accelerometer and/or a gyroscope for a more robust fall-detection solution.
