Question

STWBC86 and STWLC38 require a firmware update?

Just got a new chip — does it come with factory firmware preloaded? If yes, what version is it? And will I need to re-flash the firmware before it can work properly?

    Hello,

STWBC86 and STWLC38 are not STM32 MCUs, so this thread should not be posted in STM32 MCUs Products.
You've already posted this thread in STM32 MCUs Products and I moved it to "Interface and connectivity ICs" forum board.

    I move this post then...

    Dear frogme,

If you buy an evaluation kit, the chipsets are pre-loaded.

If you buy chipsets, they are shipped blank, so you need to load patch + configuration files.

I have designed my own PCB board. Is there a specification document detailing the complete programming procedure and specific operation steps for flashing the patch firmware and configuration files? What operations do I need to perform to program them into the chip?

You need the GUI and the files to be loaded.
ST has removed all the collaterals from the website where is mentioned that customers should contact Sales&Marketing or distributor to get the collaterals.
This local contact is mandatory before starting a design, to check if you can get support.

    Best regards,
