Sell sheets talk about automatic frequency offset compensation.
Likely by referencing a secondary timing source, or by looking at the frequency offset from the carrier in the IF stage with respect to the local clock.
Protocol between two node might also reflect deviation observation, ie if high or low compared to expected center of band.

How do you normally buy parts? Go in via your sales contact, a distributor should have their own FAEs to support their clients, based on the margin they take.
For ST direct, presumably via your local sales office and the support staff working there.
On the site here there should be an "Online Support Request Form"
Not sure why two boards couldn't attempt to align themselves more tightly.
Going to depend a lot of the granularity of the PLL/VCO in getting to the ~868 MHz (or whatever exact value it is trying to mix in the down-converter), and the ability to pull that to correct for the offset of the local oscillator.
