ST87M01 does not generate +CEREG 5 URC when it registers to the network

Dear ST team,

I have configured the ST87M01 for sending +CEREG URCs when registration state changes with AT+CEREG=5.

But the modem attaches, but does not sent +CEREG notification (see traces below): Is this a nominal behavior ?

In this case I don’t know what is the problem with my SIM, but it is not in ST87M01. It’s not an issue for me since I have another SIM which works as expected.

So, you can close this ticket from my point of view,

Hello,

It looks like the problem comes from the Wireless Logic SIM card which is shiped into the EVKITST87M01-2 dev kit box. This SIM card does not support (as of today) NBIOT in France. This  was confirmed by Wireless Logic support.

I have tested with another SIM card and the +CEREG 5 is generated as expected,

Hello Thierry DIdi,

In fact, the Wireless Logic SIM does support NBIOT in France.
Indeed, I am based in the west of France, and I can use it.

The problem may come from the SIM activation, which must be done using the QR code that is printed in the card flyer. If it is successful, you should receive a mail with « SIM Activation Completed» subject. 
If you do not receive the mail, you should retry to activate the SIM.
