ST67W611M1 Support for IEEE 802.11k/v/r and Wi-Fi Roaming

Could you please clarify whether the ST67W611M1 supports IEEE 802.11k/v/r and Wi-Fi roaming?

If it does, could you please point me to the documentation that describes this support? I could not find any information about it in the datasheet, user manual, or ST Wiki.

Hi @yama4815 ,

The ST67W611M1 module doesn’t support hardware Wi-Fi roaming. It may be possible to attempt some SW Wi-Fi roaming implementation by monitoring the RSSI and comparing it to a user-defined value. If RSSI falls below this value, the STA would rescan and connect to the “new” AP with the same SSID and a higher RSSI. Such SW feature means of course a connection loss during the rescan.

Best regards,

Tarik

The ST67W611M1 module doesn’t support hardware Wi-Fi roaming.

Is that a hardware limitation, or just that it’s not (yet) implemented in any module firmware?

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Not sure about where the limitation is exactly but I can say that this feature won’t be supported by the ST67W611M1 module.

Thank you for your reply.
Does this mean that support for 802.11k/v/r is also not available?
Thank you in advance.

This is correct.

If possible, could you share more details on the use-case requiring the support of 802.11 k/v/r?
