S2-LP transceiver kit - STEVAL FKI868V1 - can we use balun

Hi 

I received 2 of this kit, and I ran some basic tests - works really fine!

I am trying to use S2-LP in wm-bus solution for my project. I have a question regarding redudcing the capacitors/inductors count on the PCB : is there any chance to use balun (say with a freq range of 

850MHz ~ 915MHz

Hi Silas,

Good to hear that you are using S2LP device.

We are currently integrating the Balue (BALF-SPI2-01D3) with S2-LP and making new Nucleo expansion board. We are validating the first prototype. S2LP package will be available on ST.com by end of Q4 or early Q1.

Meanwhile, please referrer the piece of schematic below which may be useful for you.

Thank you so much for your reply and the schematic with balun, this really reduces the component count and simplifies the design!  

Well, further looking up more information on this particular balun you mentioned, it seems this is an ST product and specifically customized for S2-LP !!!! Wonderful!! And the data sheet is also available (

) with the schematic!!  I am sure the schematic must have been tested. 

One more question:

Can we do this schematic on two-layer pcb? Or do I need to do 4 layer?

Hello 

Anyone has worked with this balun (

BALF-SPI2-01D3) with S2-LP? I would really appreciate any information on the schematic given in the datasheet of the balun. I am planning on using S2-LP and possibly with this balun.
