And of course it has Lux meter which could be useful to get the illuminance of a scene for example. It came out on June 2021, all documentations are available on st.com, and product will be orderable starting mid-July 2021.

One of the highlights is the light flicker extraction, as mentioned in the datasheet:

With a patented architecture and a high-performance photodiode design, the VD6283

can extract light flickering frequencies to avoid “banding effects�? on videos, or check

that they are safe for human eye. Additionally, the VD6283 is the only sensor able to

extract different light flicker waveforms from 100 Hz and 2 kHz, including LED square

signals, that can run flicker operations simultaneously with ALS operations.
