Question

No way to see that a post was edited

If I reply to a post, and then the user edits the post I replied to, there’s no indication of this on the forum. This leads to confusion. For example, my reply on this post doesn’t make sense in context anymore because the user edited the post.

The old forum had this.

It really feels like the new forum is missing a ton of basic functionality features.

Oh we still can’t resize images in posts. Old forum had that ability as well. What did we gain by changing again?

Indeed.

This is one reason why I generally quote what I’m replying to.

The old forum had this.

Was that generally visible, or just for “Super Users” ?

Yes, it does - even some that we spent a deal of time getting into the last one!

I think the main gain was for ST in their relationship with the provider?

Users don’t seem to have gained anything

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

I guess that’s the way to go now. Usually I do this but if the post was a single sentence it seemed unnecessary.

The edit history was only available to Super Users, but the fact that it was edited was publicly shown, as well as the date it was edited.

Seems that way. Super unfortunate. And the pace of improvements is extremely slow.
