So this is the first free release following the ST acquisition with "the full Pro feature set unlocked to all STM32 users!"
The site asks me to sign-up for the email newsletter. I am already signed up for the old Atollic emails - will they continue?
I have been using Keil IDE for years (as a hobbyist).
Maybe someone who knows both Keil & TrueStudio could share some details about pros & cons.
I know that the primary difference is lack of licensing limits in TS (Keil - 32kB for non F0/L0 MCUs). I have Segger programmer/debugger (read that some features may need it on TrueStudio).
I think that would be better as a thread of its own.
Now, if only there were a simple way to flag to the moderators to split it off into a separate thread ...
Right. Just created.
Keil vs TrueSTUDIO IDE
Thank you for adding the link
So has all non-STM32 support now been removed?
Installed it last night and started to port my LL projects - it goes smoother than SW. Unfortunately, as it is now, it is faulted by the errors CubeMX generate regarding LL projects - errors already reported and currently being solved. One thing I would like for the next TrueSTUDIO version is the generation of .bin and .hex files, not only .elf generation, and a possibility to upload the executable into the selected board (Linux here).
But frankly, excepting the debugger part (which I didn't tested yet), it is still easier to have CubeMX generating the project for the Makefile then imported (or not) in whatever IDE (including Eclipse). If the debug thing does not work under Linux, then... there are some wasted "resources"...
Just tested the debugger, works great!
Atollic allows you to generate other output than elf
Project -> Properties - > c/c+ build -> Setting -> tool settings tab -> Other -> Output Format
6 other formats to choose from, including hex and bin
i have used it, when i needed to be able to drag/drop a bin onto MBED enabled NUCLEO/DISO boards
Thank you John, that did the trick!
