It should, surely, be one of the key icons - always present of the toolbar.
It's not even there when you press the for "extra" funtions - even after that, it's still hidden under
And for that matter why do we need a bunch of different editors?
Action buttons, that indicate "No Action" is available, etc.
Along with the fact that, once you have found it, using it dooms your post to be lost in moderation for the best part of a day:
Why does using the Syntax Highlighter always cause a post to be held for moderation?
I guess it's hardly surprising that people don't use it!
So all code posted looks a mess.
Yes, the idiocy of all this has been pointed out to people in charge before. Jive apparently doesn't have any classes or tiers of moderators, so several users here that could help watch and approve this type of content can't do so.
I can't see how this deals with spam, as the exact same content slapped into a post goes through without issue. Perhaps there are other clients (Intel?) which have caused other rules/procedures to be implemented by Jive.
Usually posts containing source source end up in the moderation queue because they contain a lot of special characters, regardless if the source code is pasted as-is within the message body or inside a syntax highlighter frame
Are you experiencing a different behavior?

Any use of the "Sytax Highlighter" (what an unhelpful name) forces moderation - even with perfectly standard, plain source text.
Most of my stuff has no "special" characters beyond tabs, and every time it goes into moderation. I want to use the tool so the spacing/formatting isn't destroyed. The exact same code pasted into a comment does not trigger this behaviour. ST really should get a handle on what it is about using the syntax highlighter that flags a post for moderation, because I currently see little value or effectiveness in doing so, and it just annoys anyone trying to post code with appropriate formatting.
The moderator experience may well be different.
Maybe it's the "Sytax Highlighter" (arghhh) that inserts the "special" characters ... ?
Or "mag ic" ones
Did you experience this behavior also in the last couple days?
Last week Jive/Aurea has revamped entirely our spam config, so we are expecting fewer restrictions after this change
The thread view still throws the "unexpected error", the InBox view doesn't offer the full editor, or post editing. So currently hard to say.
Unfortunately I know The supplier is still working on an ad-hoc patch for the J2E exception we are encountering.
Yeah - not worth worrying about this until the basic issues are sorted!
Ok, so I posted a discussion with source code via the Syntax Highlighter several days ago, this disappeared into a void, I couldn't see them, they didn't show up in my Inbox or Activity streams. Zero visibility anywhere. They were stuck in some Moderation queue, posted again yesterday, same thing.
Now the forum bugs seem to have been fixed for the time being the posts have been approved and have appeared. Hard to know if they were manually approved, or if this occurred automatically. It would be helpful if the approver was identified.
we are still experiencing issues with the moderation queue, Jive is still working on it

Which forum bugs? I still receive "unexpected error" on all thread views.
I was working for several hours late morning on Saturday, then was broken all Sunday.
Ah I see, thanks.

Hi Andrew Neil and waclawek.jan
do you get the error also when you are logged in? (we are aware that it impacts both type of users, but mostly non-logged in users)
Do you get the error also when you are logged in?
Yes - logged in or not makes no difference.
All views seem affected except "inbox".

Amel N - so any comment on the question, then?
Also on: Why does using the Syntax Highlighter always cause a post to be held for moderation?
I moved this later also to About this community space as it is a Community platform related issue , not really STM32 related one.
I don't have a precise answer to your questions, that is why I let Brian Kling and/or Francesco Cariati comment here.
We understand very well the frustration of a contributor who wants his post to be well presented and easily understood. Unfortunately, more severe problems are being faced with Jive platform since almost a month -you already know this-.
The root cause of the problems seems to be identified and a patch will be applied once qualified. We still pushing to get it asap.
The content going to moderation is one of the issues highlighted since a while.
Yes, understand that you've lately been, well, "distracted" - I think I originally posted it just before that problem blew up ... ?
And, just to be really stupid, there is a button on the "top" toolbar called "source code" - but what it does is to show you the HTML source of the web page.
Why on earth would you want that as a top-level feature on the main user toolbar??
And, in that thread, note that "Syntax Highlighter" was not meaningful to the user who was specifically looking for the feature.
Today's example: https://community.st.com/thread/48797-stack-analiser#comment-192414
We have a good news: Lithium has discovered that the syntax highlighter is inserting an hidden character, and that's what is triggering the unwanted moderation. They have filed a request for bugfix and I'm awaiting their ETA
That is certainly good news. Shame it's taken them so long, though.
And I shan't hold my breath for the fix ...
Is there any chance of getting it put in a more sensible place in the menu structure?
For the latter, I doubt, as those menu are OOTB with no options for customization (unless a huge budget gets dedicated to rebuild the whole UX from scratch, but it's not in our plans and it would not even make sense from a technical point of view)
The more I hear about it, the more it sounds like a prime example of all the worst aspects of SaaS !!

Element-14 are also using Jive, and they have the Syntax Highlighter accessible straight from the '...' menu
Oh that's interesting! I've been told different by the Support team so if you could share a screenshot of that I'll raise a new case
